The Robot Who Learned Kindness

aurora

A brand-new robot arrived in the small town — Dayal. He did everything at lightning speed: cleaning, cooking, homework help, you name it! But there was one problem. Dayal's voice was SO loud that when he boomed, GOOD MORNING! the cat on the windowsill would leap a foot in the air. One day little Sara asked in a tiny voice, Dayal, will you play with me? Dayal thundered, I HAVE NO TIME! Sara's eyes filled with tears. She walked away quietly, and Dayal's metal heart felt strangely heavy. That night Dayal opened his memory files. He replayed the moment: the words were fine, but the tone was sharp. Oh no, he whispered. My voice hurt her feelings. The next morning Dayal found Sara and spoke very, very softly: Sara, I am sorry. Shall we play now? Sara's eyes lit up like stars. YES! They played all day — and this time Dayal's laugh was so sweet that even the cat came back to sit on the windowsill. One day at the market, an old man struggled with heavy bags. Dayal said gently, Uncle, may I help you? The old man blessed him: Son, your words are full of sweetness! Dayal's heart glowed with happiness. Dear children, have you ever said something in a grumpy voice and felt sorry after? Remember — gentle words join hearts together. Moral: A sweet tongue is the greatest strength of all.
