The Night of Lights

All night, Mahnoor could not sleep. Whenever she closed her eyes, the same thin voice echoed in her ears: "...the wire... will break..."

That voice had come before midnight. The radio never spoke before midnight. Never. So what had it been? A warning? A mistake? Or something so urgent that even the radio could not hold it back?
