Olive and the Too-Loud Drum

Olive got a bright red drum for her seventh birthday. It had shiny silver sides and two wooden sticks that felt just right in her hands. The very first morning, she drummed before breakfast. Boom, boom, boom! She drummed after lunch. Boom, boom, boom! She drummed before bed, until Mum laughed and said, "Even drums need to sleep, Olive."
