Theo and the Slowest Race

Theo's heart thumped like a little drum on the morning of the school race.

Theo loved running. He loved the wind on his face and the sound of his shoes on the path. But Theo was the slowest runner in his class. When the other children zoomed ahead, his legs felt heavy, and his breath came fast. Sometimes he wanted to give up and sit on the grass forever.
